Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA)

GLMA is the largest professional organization serving school library media professionals in Georgia. Its members are dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of school library media specialists and to quality education in Georgia's schools. GLMA, Inc. is the state affiliate to the American Association of School Libraries (AASL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

United States Department of Education

ED was created in 1980 by combining offices from several federal agencies. ED's mission is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. ED's 4,500 employees and $71.5 billion budget are dedicated to establishing policies on federal financial aid for education, and distributing as well as monitoring those funds, collecting data on America's schools and disseminating research, focusing national attention on key educational issues, prohibiting discrimination and ensuring equal access to education.

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

(ISTE) is the trusted source in education technology for professional development, knowledge generation, and advocacy. A nonprofit membership organization, ISTE provides leadership and service to improve teaching and learning in K-12 and teacher education through the effective use of technology. Home of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS), the Center for Applied Research in Education Technology (CARET), and the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC), ISTE represents more than 85,000 leaders and potential leaders worldwide.

International Reading Association

The International Reading Association is an organization that is dedicated to promoting high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction, disseminating research and information about reading, and encouraging the lifetime reading habit. Members include classroom teachers, reading specialists, consultants, administrators, supervisors, university faculty, researchers, psychologists, librarians, media specialists and parents.

Georgia Association for Instructional Technology, Inc. (GAIT)

The Georgia Association for Instructional Technology, Inc. is open to all who are interested in bettering education through the use of media and technology. The membership is diversified and includes public school educators, corporate trainers, vocational instructors, college media directors, university professors, library/media specialists, commercial vendors and many, many more. All unite in activities designed to expand and diversify information and communications technology and improve instruction through the systematic development, utilization and management of learning resources including people, processes and technology.

The mission of AECT is to provide international leadership by promoting scholarship and best practices in the creation, use, and management of technologies for effective teaching and learning in a wide range of settings.

Georgia Library Association (GLA)

During its 100-year history, the Georgia Library Association has been built on its membership, which now includes librarians, trustees, paraprofessionals and friends representing school, public, academic and special libraries. Members unite to discuss common interests and to meet the challenges facing libraries today. These talented individuals contribute hard work, diverse talents, and strong leadership in shaping the future of Georgia's libraries.

Metro Atlanta Library Association

The Metro-Atlanta Library Association was established in 1982. Its objective is to advance library interests and services in the greater Atlanta area. Membership in MALA is open to all persons interested in advancing library and information resource interests in the Metro Atlanta area.

American Library Association (ALA)

The American Library Association is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with more than 64,000 members. Its mission is to promote the highest quality library and information services and public access to information. ALA offers professional services and publications to members and nonmembers, including online news stories from American Libraries and analysis of crucial issues from the Washington Office.

American Association of School Librarians (AASL)

The mission of the American Association of School Librarians is to advocate excellence, facilitate change, and develop leaders in the school library media field. AASL works to ensure that all members of the school library media field collaborate to provide leadership in the total education program, participate as active partners in the teaching/learning process, connect learners with ideas and information, and prepare students for life-long learning, informed decision-making, a love of reading, and the use of information technologies.

U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science

The United States National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) is a permanent, independent agency of the government that advises the executive and legislative ranches, public and private organizations on national library and information policies and plans.

Young Adult Services Assocation (YALSA)

The mission of YALSA is to advocate, promote and strengthen service to young adults and to support those who provide service to this population. YALSA is a division of the American Library Assocation.

Assocation for Library and Information Science (ALISE)

ALISE's mission is to provide excellence in research, teaching, and service for library and information science education. It provides mechanisms for the xchange, dissemination, and receipt of information about issues, events and trends in library and information science.

Association for Educational Communications and Technology

This mission of the Assocation for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) is to provide leadership in educational communications and technology by linking professionals holding a common interest in the use of educational technology and its application to the learning process.
