Data Analysis and Utilization

Please read the following instructions on how to use your Data Utilization Guide.

  1. Download the zip package titled "Data Utilization Guide".
  2. Extract all the files from the zip package to known folder.
  3. To start using this open the word document titled "Data utilization resource guide" and click on the individual links that point to different files. Remember, to get this working the word document titled "Data utilization resource guide" and the folder titled "files" needs to be at the same location/folder.
  4. Alternatively, after extracting the zip package you can burn all the files to a CD and start navigating from the CD.

Downloads

After you have downloaded and opened the zip file (above); you will see one file folder and one word document. Open the word document titled 'data utilization guide.doc'. This document contains the Table of Contents and all corresponding links. Please read the Welcome Page. It explains that in order to access a link, you must click on your CTRL key and while keeping this depressed, left click on your mouse.

Please note: The 2006-2007 Data Utilization Guide contains macros. If a dialogue box appears on your screen questioning whether you would like to accept the macros, please select 'accept macros from this source'.

Introduction

The Data Utilization Guide is a resource for Georgia Educators for data interpretation, utilization, and analysis. It is meant to be a one-stop handbook that includes a continuum of topics from introductory to advanced. Below is an overview of the contents found within the guide:

  1. Overview of Data Driven Decision Making & Assessment Terminology
  2. Overview of Balanced Assessment
  3. Introduction to all Georgia Assessments
  4. Assistance with assessment report interpretation
  5. Overview of the Six Step Process (utilizing data to positively impact Students with Disabilities)
  6. Step-by-step instructions on how to use the Georgia On-line Assessment System, NAEP Web Tools, and student level data analysis using Excel
  7. Automated macros that assist is the presentation and analyses of student level data
  8. Basic AYP definitions and benchmarks
  9. Links to additional Continuous School Improvement Resources
  10. Professional Learning presentations to share with your staff
